The winner of the PHABIAN Award 2024 presents, from Stanford, his thesis together with those who received a honorable mention.

The Swedish Pharmaceutical Society’s Section for Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Analysis is proud to announce that Weifeng Lin has been awarded the prestigious Phabian Award for Best Doctoral Thesis in the fields of Pharmaceutical and Biomedical Analysis. Lin was chosen for his outstanding thesis “Development of advanced chemical biology tools for microbiome metabolism – Chemoselective probes for enhanced metabolomics analysis” at Uppsala universitet.

About the winner

Weifeng Lin grew up in Shenzhen, China, where he lived until 2017, when he received an offer to pursue a Master’s degree in Biomedicine at Uppsala University. With a strong passion for gut microbiome research and biomarker discovery, he joined the Globisch Lab for his PhD studies, focusing on developing novel chemical biology tools for mass spectrometry-based biomarker discovery. After completing his PhD, Weifeng moved to Stanford University as a postdoctoral researcher, working on uncovering novel RNA drug targets.

Honorary award recipient

As a bonus, Andreas Hober, who recieved an honorary mention for the award, will be present in Stockholm and present his thesis ”Development of novel affinity enrichment strategies for clinical applications using selected reaction monitoring” he defended at KTH (Royal Institute of Technology).

Target audience

People interested in bioanalysis of pharmaceuticals and endogenous compounds.
